What boiler efficiency should I look for?
When looking for a new boiler, you should always look out for an A rated efficiency. This means that your boiler will be at least 90% efficient, the equivalent of wasting less than 10p in every £1 of energy.
What is a condensing boiler?
As of 2004, all new boilers are
required to be condensing boilers as they are more efficient- wasting less
money and energy.
In a condensing boiler, gas that would be previously wasted is now condensed, allowing it to be reused. This cycle is continuous, meaning much less energy is wasted overall.
Do I need to service my new boiler?
Yes- you should service your new
boiler no more than twelve months after it has been installed. This may seem
unnecessary, but regular servicing is key to keeping your boiler in good shape
for as long as possible.
You should continue to service your boiler every twelve months, just to keep the risk of breakdowns as low as possible - saving you money long term.
How long should a new boiler
If you care for your boiler
correctly, it can last between 10 and 15 years. As with anything- the better
you take care of it, the longer it will last.
